Erin, thanku so much 4 your wonderful reply to my last ? just 1 more! As we are not staying onsite we couldn't get DDP but can we still eat @ DD without ADR?we really want 2 eat @ the Rainforest Cafe etc but will this be near impossible due 2 all the ADR's?

    Hello again Lydia,

Let me see if I can help ...

First, you do NOT need to be on the Disney Dining Plan to make advance dining reservations. Anyone can make reservations regardless of where they are staying or where they are from. All you need to do is call Disney Dining at 407-363-3463 (you'll have to add the appropriate country codes). This will obviously be a long distance call for you, but if you're organized it doesn't have to be a very long call, and it could save you lots of waiting around once you're at WDW. If you want to eat at character meals, dinner shows, or signature dining restaurants, I strongly urge you to make reservations in advance.

Second, while the table service restaurants in the theme parks and Disney resorts do take advance reservations (at the above phone number), several of the restaurants at Downtown Disney do not take reservations. The Downtown Disney location of the Rainforest Cafe is one of those restaurants, so you will be in no worse of a position of anyone else in your odds of getting in there. (By the way, the Animal Kingdom location of the Rainforest Cafe DOES take reservations.)

You can always increase your odds of getting a table somewhere if you're willing to dine at off hours. At WDW, the peak hours for lunch are about noon until 2:00 and for dinner they are from about 5:00 until 7:00. If you eat at times other than these, you are more likely to be seated.

Let me know if you need anything else :-)
