Hi Erin! We've decided to invest in APs for at least the next 2 yrs. Are APs activated when they are bought? Or when you arrive at the parks? Thinking about buying soon, but won't use them until at least May 2010. Does DD need an AP too, or just a MYW? THX

There is a wonderful discussion about the ins and outs of WDW Annual Passes on the independent website allears.net. I strongly suggest that you check it out.

The short answer to your question is, you can buy Annual Passes now, but not activate them until later. You will be purchasing a voucher that you can later exchange for your actual pass. This way you get the maximum amount of usage out of your pass.

Whether your daughter needs an annual pass depends on whether she will be coming to the park as much as you are. Currently in my family, I end up visiting WDW a bit more than the other members of my family (lucky me), so I am the only one that has an annual pass. There have been other years when the whole family has spent buckets of time at Walt Disney World. When this happened, we all had annual passes. You'll have to do the math based on your own family's habits, but most people find that if they will be visiting the WDW theme parks for more than 10 or 12 days during a 365 day period, then the annual pass makes sense for them.

    Good luck with your planning!
