HI Erin! Our 1st trip to WDW was Feb 08 for DD 6th bday. Myself DH and DD-6 will be traveling back to WDW Jan 15-19, 2009. Last visit we did AS Music and loved it any views on Music Vs. Pop? I see you frequent this time of year, how are crowds? Thanks!

I have stayed at an All Star, but never at the Pop Century, so I can't offer personal impressions on that resort, but I have done a lot of research. The rooms at all the value resorts are very similar in size and configuration, so that would be the same at both ASM and Pop. One aspect that is slightly different is transportation. Many guests find the bus situation to be better at the Pop because there are dedicated buses for that resort, whereas all the All Star buses serve all three All Star hotels, making the ride a bit longer at times. There are also some cute themeing-related events that happen only at the Pop. For example, the cast members will often break out into old popular dances in the lobby. Anyone for the hustle? And in addition the soda and lemonade that is available at all the resorts, there are frozen Icees on tap at the Pop. You can fill your refillable mug with the Icees as often as you like. Kid heaven! OK, mom heaven too :-)  The Pop is very high on my list of resorts I'd like to try soon.

As far as your travel dates go, I think they're great. (In fact, I'll be there then too.) You're in the zone after the Christmas crush and before the President's Day influx. Depending on the weather, you'll experience moderate to low crowds. When I was at WDW in January of this year, I found the crowds to be the lowest I had ever experienced at Disney World.

I hope you have a great trip!
