Hi Erin! Thx for the honest opinion on disney transportation. We are planning to use this for our Oct trip. ? is are the taxi's readily available at all the parks so if some night we're just too tired to wait we could grab a cab? Staying at POFQ. Thx!

I have found taxis to be readily available at Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and the Animal Kingdom. We have used taxis to get us back to the resort several times in just the situation you describe. Usually there is a line of taxis waiting at the park somewhat near the handicapped parking area (which is obviously close to the park entrance). I'm confident you'll see the taxis quickly, but if you don't see the taxi line right away, just ask at the transportation information booth.

The Magic Kingdom taxi situation is a bit different because no non-Disney traffic is allowed up to the park gates (another reason to use Disney transport). To get a cab you will have to take the boat or monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center. Cabs should be easy to find there.

I have also had good luck getting cabs from my resort to the parks, which we have sometimes done when we have a super-early character breakfast. The resorts I've stayed at most often (Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian) do usually have taxis just waiting for guests. I have heard that this is less often the case at the value resorts. If you're at any resort, need a taxi, and one is not waiting there, just ask the bell services or guest relations desk at the hotel to call one for you. Your cab should be there within a few moments. Also, if you really need a taxi at a specific time (say, for a trip to the airport) you could call the day before or several hours in advance and a cab will be waiting for you at the specified time.

We do take a few taxi rides each trip, but as I said previously, my family does the vast majority of our WDW traveling via the Disney transportation system. It's been a great way to make our vacations more relaxing (and more environmentally friendly).
