Hi Erin, Thanks so much for your responses about AbD to China. Our trip is coming up next month. We are arriving at 6 am so we paid for disney transportation. Do you suggest getting chinese money at home so we can tip the driver?

    Hi Stacey,

First of all, I would call AbD and discuss whether your driver will be expecting a tip. When you're on an AbD trip, all the tips for drivers, servers, bellmen, etc. are included in your main trip fee. If Disney booked the driver for you, a gratuity may already be included. Also, taxi driver tipping is not a general practice in Bejing.

You may not need cash for the driver, but yes, I would get some Chinese currency in advance of your trip. You may want to get a quick snack in the airport or similar. There are ATMs near most of the hotels on the China trip (your guides can point these out), but having a starter stash of Chinese currency in advance of your trip will ensure that you're not totally stuck. Also, many of the smaller vendors in China don't take credit cards, so you'll be using cash more there than you might at other travel destinations.

Please keep the questions coming. I'm happy to help.
