Hi Mindy,
I've stayed in all the resorts with villa-style rooms. I have found the ones at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, particularly in the Kidani Village section, to be among the most spacious. My family usually stays in two-bedroom villas (we use our Disney Vacation Club points), but we have seriously considered staying in a Kidani one-bedroom. The Kidani one-bedroom villas do have two bathrooms. I have three hair-obsessed daughters, so access to at least two bathrooms is a definite deal breaker for us. You should know that the AKL Jambo house one-bedroom villas only have one bathroom.
The one-bedroom villas all have a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and a living room with a pull-out queen-sized sleeper sofa. Additionally, the Kidani one-bedrooms have a twin-sized, pull-out sleeper chair, allowing those rooms to sleep five.
You can read about the specific amenities of each room type at Animal Kingdom Lodge on the
AKL resort specifications page on the WDW website.
In two of your boys were willing/able to sleep in the same bed, you would certainly fit into a Kidani one-bedroom. You'd have a nice experience. If you stayed in a two-bedroom, you'd all have more space and more privacy. You would have an absolutely incredible experience.
You have to think about your personal priorities. Do you want to spend money on the room? Or do you want to use those funds for other types of activities? The Hoop Dee Doo Revue Dinner show and the Wild Africa Trek tour are both pricey extras that are HUGE hits with my family. Do you want a great room? Or do you want to have some other memorable experiences?
Please let me know if I can provide more help.
