Erin F., thanks for the help. The silhouettes sound perfect. Followup questions--how long will the kids need to sit still? I'm thinking about how my toddlers may be so interested in what will be going on around them. Could you walk me through the process?

    Hi Matt,

The silhouette making process is extremely fast. From start to finish, the artist needs only about two minutes of sitting still time from each member of the family. While the artist is working, the subject will need to sit fairly still on a stool, but again this is only for a brief time. If you're concerned about a toddler losing focus, you could load up an iPod or smart phone with a movie and hold it at eye level for the time it takes to stay still for the sitting. This would likely be enough of an enticement to stay looking in one direction for such a brief period of time. If you're concerned about the stool, the child would probably be able to sit on the parents lap while he or she is being "cut."

Each person in the family will be cut separately, so while other family members are being worked on, the toddler and a parent could run around and explore nearby. When the artist is done, you can choose to have the silhouettes framed separately or together. There are examples of each at the silhouette stands.

My family of five had silhouettes cut on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom about three years ago. The entire process, from start to finished framing, took about 15-18 minutes. There are also locations at Epcot and Downtown Disney that will do this.

It's a really great quick, inexpensive, and unique souvenir of a Disney visit.

Let me know if I can help in any other way.
