Hi, Erin. Thanks for a great year of answers, guidance, and Disney excitement! We will be in WDW June 09 & are driving in. My DH wants to park our car and use busses for trans. I think driving our car would save time getting to ADRs, DTD, etc. Thoughts

You've probably asked the wrong person to be on your side. I am perhaps the most anti-car-at-WDW person on the Panel. My family never has a car with us and we've had great luck using Disney Transportation in conjunction with the occasional taxi.

That being said, there are certain circumstances when using your own (or a rented) car will save you time and aggravation at WDW. The main instance when using your car makes things easier is if you are traveling from a resort to a resort. This mostly comes into play when you have a meal reservation at a resort that is not your own. Taking your car directly to a resort is almost always faster than taking the Disney transportation which will involve a transfer. Similarly, the Disney transportation to/from Downtown Disney has always seemed to me to be a bit slower that from the theme parks. If you have a car and are just going to DTD, I would use it.

The one time where it almost never pays to drive is when you're going from your resort to the Magic Kingdom. Because the MK parking is at the Transportation and Ticket Center, not directly at the park, taking Disney transport will usually get you into the park more quickly.

So the real answer is that you should probably use a combination of you and your husband's strategies. Take the Disney transportation if you're going to the theme parks; take your car if you're going to a resort or to Downtown Disney.

And thank you for the kind words. Just so you know, the 2008 Moms are not totally disappearing. Kim has become the Disney Cruise Line specialist, so she will be on the site answering questions about DCL. Eight of us are continuing on the Panel in three month shifts. Brigitta and I are taking the first quarter. We will be answering questions through March. You'll see most of the other 2008 Panelists pop in later in the year.
