Hi Erin, thanks for answering my recent question. I guess I got my acronyms wrong--I meant Disney Dining Plan, not Deluxe Dining Plan (whoops)! How do kids appetizers and desserts (quick service included) work on the regular dining plan? Thanks!

No problem to clarify. I probably misinterpreted your original question.

On the regular Disney Dining Plan, appetizers are not included for children or adults. You may purchase these separately, but there would be an additional charge. For desserts, at any restaurant where there is a children's menu, a child ages 3-9 would be required to get a dessert from the children's menu. Children will not be selecting items from the adult menu.

There are a few semi-exceptions to this:

    - Buffet-style restaurants. Adults and children may eat anything from any part of the buffet. While there are "kid-friendly" foods on the buffet line, children are not limited to eating these. Also, anyone dining at a buffet meal may eat any item on the buffet, regardless of what dining plan they are on.
    - Restaurants with no children's menu. These are rare. One example is Toy Story Pizza Planet at Disney's Hollywood Studios. There is no separate children's menu here so children may choose their items from the regular menu.

For a very complete explanation of the benefits of the dining plan, go to the website allearsnet.com and search for an article called "2008 Magic Your Way Basic Dining Plan."

    Hope this helps.
