Hi Erin. Staying at AKL in August with 2kids (10 & 6) in sav. view with bunks. Very excited! Any ideas on best rooms to get? My daughter is dying to see the giraffe and zebras.

I stayed in a savanna view room with my oldest daughter about a year ago. It was really an incredible experience. We had reticulated giraffe grazing just yards away from our balcony. Never before had we been able to see these gorgeous creatures so close over such a long period of time. Your children will be in heaven.

Our room with the great giraffe view was in the Kudu Trail guest room section, overlooking the Sunset Savanna. Most of the zebras will be found, not surprisingly in the Zebra Trail guest rooms. Seeing that your daughter wants both giraffes and zebra, I don't really know which direction to point you in. You should know that ALL the savannah view rooms are wonderful for animal observation. It's like going to Africa, but with a MUCH short plane ride.

There are also wonderful animal viewing areas all over the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The species that you don't see from your room, you will certainly be able to see from other parts of the hotel. For example, if you take a walk out the back side of the hotel lobby to the Arusha Rock Savanna Overlook, you'll be in a wonderful place to see all the animals out in the Arusha Savanna. Take some time to explore all the nooks and crannies of this absolutely wonderful resort.
