Hello Erin, regarding the evening extra magic hours, we are going to the animal kingdom only for the day, they close at 5:00. My question is do we have to leave or can we stay and shop or eat and not go on the rides or other attractions?

If you are a Disney resort guest, then you are welcome to participate in any of the theme parks' Extra Magic Hours. If you are already in the park when Extra Magic Hours begin, then you do not have to leave park and reenter. You are welcome to stay and continue enjoying the attractions and amenities. The only change you will notice is that once Extra Magic Hours start, Disney cast members will begin to ask for guests to show their resort ID cards (also known as Key to the World cards or room keys). If you show your resort ID, then you will be allowed to stay in the park. Please note that all members of your party, including children, must have their resort ID with them in order to remain in the park.

If you are not a guest of the Disney resort hotels, you will be required to leave the park at the regular closing time.
