    Hi Erin. I read that you have stayed at several of the Deluxe resorts. We have a 2 1/2 yr old little girl and really want our resort to be a great experience for her. Which Deluxe resort is your favorite for small children?

    In my mind there are two things to factor into your thought process on this: monorail vs. pool. If you plan to spend the bulk of your time at the Magic Kingdom, then being on the monorail line can simplify things. You just roll your stroller onto the monorail and you're at the MK in minutes. The 3 monorail hotels are the Contemporary, the Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian. I have stayed at the Contemporary twice, it's fine, but I don't love it. To me it seems like a generic big-box hotel. I have stayed at the Floridian 4 or 5 times. I love the decor and music in the evenings. It feels like an elegant escape. To me, the Floridian is a good balance of adult appeal and proximity to kid-friendly experiences. I have never stayed at the Poly, though I'm sure I will some day.

    If your daughter likes the water or if you are traveling during a hot time of the year, then the other way to go is staying at the Yacht or Beach Club resort. I find the Beach Club atmosphere to be a bit more kid-friendly, and have stayed there 8 or 9 times. We love it for two reasons: the amazing pool and the proximity to Epcot. The pool is practically a mini water park. The best part for small kids is the sandy bottom area. The sand there is perfect for castle making and the water is a great depth for little kids. We literally had to pull our girls out of there many times because they were having so much fun. The other Y&B advantage (closeness to Epcot) works well based on how we structure our Disney days. We spend mostly mornings in the parks and almost always leave by 12:30. (With small kids, that's really about all anyone can handle.) Then we spend the afternoon napping and swimming. Most evenings we spend at Epcot, eating a yummy meal in the World Showcase and going on a ride or two. Then, you just walk five minutes back to your hotel and snuggle into bed.

    So, long story short: my picks would be Grand Floridian or Beach Club, depending on how you want to spend your time at WDW. Let me know if you need any more help.
