Erin, planning 2nd trip for DH & DD(6) to take advantage of 4/3 special. 1st trip was 1st week of Dec 08. Do not want to take DD out of school and not able to go in June. What are your thoughts on these dates: mid Jul (DD bday on 7/17) or Aug8-1

This one is a bit of a toss-up. In my opinion, summer is probably the worst time to visit WDW. However, circumstances sometimes make it so that's the only time you can visit. I myself recently booked a week at WDW for mid-July this year because that was the best time for hubby and I to get away alone ;-).

The weather during both the weeks you suggest is HOT. Daytime highs will be in the 90s and nighttime lows will only dip down to the low 70s. If weather is your main consideration, I would go in July. While the temperatures are nearly identical, there is a bit more rain in August (though July is quite rainy too). While mid-August is not prime hurricane season, there is always the possibility of that happening.

As far as crowds go, according to the outstanding independent website touringplans.com, mid-July is mostly crowd levels of 8 and 9 (on a scale of 1-10), while mid-August is mostly crowd levels of 7 and 8. This is not much of a difference, both times will feel quite busy, but August perhaps a bit less so.

I wouldn't really factor your daughter's birthday into the equation. While Disney does have the very nice "get in free on your birthday" promotion running in 2009, that tiny bit of savings wouldn't be enough to sway me. You are welcome to plan celebrations for your daughter any time you visit. You can get her a free birthday button, buy her a cake, or have your room decorated at any time, regardless of whether it's her actual birthday.

If you made me hypothetically choose between July or August, I'd pick August, but as I mentioned, sometimes you have to go with July :-)
