Hi Ellen,
Thanks so much for the kind words.
The smallest moderate resort is Port Orleans French Quarter. There are fewer than half the outbuildings that exist at any of the other moderates, so no matter where you are, you are fairly close to the main building, dining options, and bus stop. Coincidentally, this is also my favorite moderate resort. The themeing is perfect for adults. Stately buildings and lovely landscaping. In addition to the park buses, there is also a lovely water shuttle that will take you to Port Orleans Riverside for more dining possibilities.
Wherever you stay, you are welcome to request a room location. When you make your reservation, note on your file that a member of your party has mobility issues. This could help you get placed in a building close to the bus stop. You'll also want to make a follow-up call a few days before you arrive. To do this, you should follow the steps described by Disney Dad Bret
HERE.
A helpful resource is a book called PassPorter's Open Mouse for Walt
Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line. This sells for approximately
$20 and is available through amazon.com and many larger bookstores.
Open Mouse gives incredibly detailed information for Disney guests with
any sort of challenge, from anxiety to allergies and everything in
between. The information for guests with mobility issues is
outstanding. They describe the seating configuration for each ride, the
physical forces exerted upon the body, etc.
Good luck with your planning and have a great vacation.
