HI Erin, Great panel, have gotten great advice here. I've noticed you will be going to WDW in Jan. DH and I will be there the 16th -24th. Was wondering since Disney came out with the 4days 3 free promo , do you think it will be more crowded? Thanks

I will be at WDW over MLK weekend.

I really have no inside scoop about this, but my guess is that Disney felt it had to offer a tremendous promotion such as the "buy four, get three" deal because they were finding signs that the downturn in the economy was negatively impacting the travel industry.

There has not been a promotion as sweet at this one in nearly a decade, back in a time when both WDW and the travel industry as a whole were very different. So, there is are no reliable historical indicators as to how a promotion as major as this will impact crowd levels.

Again, this is simply my own educated guess here, but I think what may have happened was that hotel bookings were down and they offered the promotion to get things back to a normal level. I am not expecting the crowds during my January visit to be any greater than I have experienced in Januaries past. And remember, the promotion is available for almost the entire first half of 2009. Many of the guests taking advantage of the promotion will be traveling later in the year.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of us. And be sure to stop and say "hi" if you see me in the parks.
