Hi Erin. You gave great answers for drinks and meals from "Around the World". Tthought I read that you were going to try out candy from around the world as well. What have you tried so far and what do you recommend? Know about candy from Japan

You're right I had planned to sample candy from around Epcot's World Showcase on the trip to WDW I made last week. However once I got on the scale after this past holiday season, I decided that maybe sampling carrots and celery was the way to go :-)  In the past, I have had a great time finding unusual candies in the Japan pavilion and have also indulged in Cadbury Flake in England and Toblerone in Norway.

If you'd like a true report from someone who did a chocolate quest at the World Showcase, I encourage you to go to the allearsnet.com website and search for an article called "Chocolate Around the World, Epcot's World Showcase." This is a very entertaining tale of some ladies and their attempt to consume some indigenous chocolate at every World Showcase country. The article is a few years old now, but much of it is still accurate.

And I must confess to you that I did not remain completely sweet free during my January 2009 trip. You see, when I was at WDW over Thanksgiving my girls made a startling discovery: FUDGE. I have no idea how we missed this for so long since it is sold in several places at WDW, most notably the Main Street Confectionary at the Magic Kingdom. I usually fine fudge too dry or heavy. But the MK fudge is perfect. In November, we got a sampler box of chocolate, candy cane, pumpkin, toffee, peanut butter, and rocky road. When I saw more flavors in January (mint chocolate, butterfinger, cookies and cream, creamsicle) I couldn't resist buying those -- for the kids ;-)

    Happy eating!
