Hi Erin! We're driving from LI to WDW August 19. We'd like park hopper tickets but are considering the water park option. Can we go to a park & water park in the same day? Which water park do you recommend for kids 9 & 7 (not great swimmers)?

    Hi Kim,

Yes, with the Water Park Fun & More ticket add-on you can visit a theme park and a water park on the same day. The theme park admission and the water park admissions are completely unrelated. There is an extensive discussion of this topic on the independent website blog.touringplans.com. Search there for an article called "The Disney World Water Park Fun & More Ticket Add-On: What's Up With That?" for the complete scoop.

My family prefers Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon. This was particularly true when my kids were of elementary school age. BB has a special section of the park that's designed for kids aged about 5 to 10 years old. TL does not have something like this. Also, TL does has a wave pool which might involve some real swimming, while BB has mostly floating and sliding activities. At either water park, you're welcome to borrow floatation vests for your kids to use free of charge while you're in the park.

I have to say that my personal favorite attraction in all of Walt Disney World is the Teamboat Springs family raft ride at Blizzard Beach. I love that my family gets to ride together, just us, facing each other. So I get to see my kids' expressions while we shoot down the long water slide. So. Much. Fun.

    Have a great time!
