Hi Laurie,
Welcome to planDisney! We have a few vegans in our family, so I know that navigating travels while avoiding lactose can be a little bit difficult. The only lactose-free ice cream I have found at Disney World tends to be the ice cream that is designated as plant-based. We also often avoid lactose on our trips so I have scouted out where to find it at Hollywood Studios.
Unfortunately, the last time I visited
Epic Eats, they were serving traditional ice cream only. You may want to check in and ask if you are set on eating there because menus are always subject to change. Luckily, there are other options for you. If you are avoiding lactose and looking for that sweet fix, the best option in Hollywood Studios is
Hollywood Scoops. They have chocolate and vanilla plant-based ice cream that is quite good and will get the job done. They can also pair it with a decadent Mickey-shaped brownie and hot fudge! You can also head over to the
Milk Stand in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge for some Blue Milk, which is made from coconut and rice milk so it should be safe to drink! My favorite dairy-free treat in all of Disney World is a DOLE Whip Soft-serve or DOLE Whip Float.
The My Disney Experience app is a great resource for navigating Disney's theme parks and resorts when dining with dietary preferences. Each restaurant in the app will have a full menu that displays items that are plant-based and safe for people with specific allergies. These menus are super helpful when deciding where to stop and grab a bite to eat. You can also use
Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering to order your meal ahead of time and note any allergies. All you do is press the magic button when you arrive and your food will be up in no time!
Happy Planning,
Jenna
