Hiya, Bradford! Welcome to planDisney!
Oh boy, I seriously couldn't be more excited to hear that you'll soon be getting engaged at
The Most Magical Place on Earth! The only thing better than visiting Walt Disney World Resort is sharing it with someone you love... especially when you plan on making memories that will last a lifetime!
Bradford, I completely understand how important it is to keep this secret, and your secret's safe with me! But how do we keep this secret from your significant other while you go through security? This is a great question and I have a few ideas!
From my experience, the security at the gates are looking for certain
prohibited items, and your engagement ring should not raise any flags or get pulled out from your bag. But let's not take any chances! My first piece of advice would be to offer to take ALL of your bags and backpacks through the security line, allowing your significant other to enter the no-bag line. If you do this every day of your trip, you'll set this expectation up in advance so she won't suspect a thing. If she still offers to walk through security with you, you can encourage her to get through the lines to secure a better spot at the front of the park, where you can meet her once you get through security. Perhaps you're feeling extra parched that morning, or you REALLY need a
cup of coffee, and you would appreciate her grabbing something for you while you get through the security line. You could also keep the ring in your wallet, then keep your wallet in your pocket while you go through security. But truly, if you see the security guard taking out your ring, all you'll have to do is sneak in a moment to whisper "engagement ring" and they will make every effort to help keep your secret safe!
Bradford, let me offer you my sincerest best wishes and your first congratulations! I'm sending you all the faith, trust, and pixie dust with your upcoming surprise and I hope it turns out to be the BEST. DAY. EVER! If you're looking for an exciting addition to your already-magical day, you may consider making a
dining reservation or booking a fun surprise from the
Enchanting Extras Collection (both available starting
60 days prior to your trip). And don't forget to make your Theme Park Reservations using the
Disney Park Pass system! This is an important step to reserve the parks you wish to visit on each day of your trip.
Your Fairy Godmother in Planning,
Michelle
