    On EMH days at the MK, do they do the opening ceremony twice? I ask because on our first vacation morning I have Chef Mickey booked. We will arrive to the park just before opening to the public. Is it best to get in and start riding? Or watch the opening?

    Magic Kingdom happens to be my all time favorite theme park, and so I'm thrilled that you will be making MK your first theme park during your Walt Disney World vacation!

    The opening ceremony, or "rope drop" as many guests reference it, occurs 15 minutes prior to park opening. The ceremony takes place on the train platform at the entrance to Magic Kingdom, and involves some well know "friends" and pixie dust! Traditionally, the ceremony occurs when the park officially opens to the public. There have been experiences when guests attending Extra Magic Hours at MK have been able to enjoy a smaller version of the opening ceremony, but it is quite hit or miss. Opening ceremonies are performed every day at MK, regardless of EMH.

    Should you watch rope drop? In my personal opinion, we love it! Its always nice to feel like you've been sprinkled with pixie dust before stepping foot in the parks. Keep in mind that if you are not a guest staying on property, you will not be able to ride the attractions until Opening Ceremonies are over, so that may weigh heavily in your decision.
