We are embarking on first Disney Cruise (The Magic, 5 nights to Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay) in less than a week! What is the best (considering value) port adventure in Grand Cayman for a family of 4 (children are 7 and 4)?

    Ahoy, Beth!

Your first Disney Cruise is just a few days away! Are your suitcases filled with flip-flops, shorts and swimsuits yet? I'm sure you're excited to don your summer attire real soon!

I love the itinerary you've selected for your inaugural sailing with Captain Mickey! The Disney Magic was the first ship my family cruised on, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. And Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay are two fabulous ports-of-call to visit on your high seas adventure. If you want to venture off the ship in Grand Cayman, I have two Port Adventures to check out-Nautilus Undersea Tour and Family Day at Tiki Beach. I think both will engage your crew, and I took into consideration two important factors-budget and duration.

The Nautilus Undersea Tour is only about five minutes from the port and involves boarding a semi-submarine to explore some spectacular marine life, two shipwrecks and a beautiful reef. The adventure is only about 45 minutes, which I think is an appropriate amount of time for your sailors and to be in this type of enclosed space. Since it's not too long, you can walk around the area near the dock to check out the local shops when you're done.

If your crew is looking for splashtacular fun, the Family Day at Tiki Beach is a wonderful option. Again, it's a short drive to the beach, and you'll have a little over two hours to soak in the sun and play in the gorgeous Caribbean water. A chair is included for each Guest, but the water sports available are an optional fee. You'll be off the ship for around three hours, so I suggest bringing some pre-packaged snacks and your own water or juice boxes to save a little money. Both can be brought on the ship as long as the water and juice are packed in your carry-on and remain sealed in its original containers.

    Have a MAGICal time!
