We are embarking on our first Disney cruise Dec 26-29 on the Dream. Is there anything we can be setting up ahead of time so that we don't miss good opportunities for kids 8-12? We have dinner plans already set.

Welcome aboard, Paula! Congratulations on your upcoming cruise with Disney! Your very first experience with Disney Cruise Line on the Dream will be so magical! While all of my family's cruise vacations with Disney are special and memorable, there was such extra magic on that first cruise when everything was brand new!

Check out the online check-in and go to the My Activities section. It sounds like you have already made dining reservations for Palo or Remy, the two adult exclusive restaurants onboard. But, there are some other great opportunities that you can pre-reserve. Some specialty character experiences may still be available for your cruise, like the Princess Gathering or the Frozen Meet and Greet. Don't worry if these specific experiences are already booked because Disney characters are around the ship to meet with guests all day and night, no reservations needed. Those are just two of the specialty events that do require tickets. Of course, Port Adventures can be reserved there as well for your different ports of call. Pre-register your younger kids for the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab as well.

Adults can pre-book beverage tasting seminars, like my favorite the Chocolate and Liquor tasting. Spa treatments can also be pre-reserved there. Other than that, just be sure that all of your mobile devices have the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App installed so that you can each access the daily schedule of events, ship maps, dining menus, and my family's favorite, the onboard texting feature. I love this because we can all keep in touch and know where we are on the ship using the texting feature. Be sure to also pack pirate costumes and accessories for everyone to wear on Pirate Night! It's a really fun evening!

Have so much fun planning and counting down to this magical vacation, Paula!
