Ahoy, Tara!
A cabana on Disney's private island,
Castaway Cay is a hot commodity, and is usually booked months before setting sail on your cruise. You can check to see if any are available by logging into your cruise reservation on the Disney Cruise Line
website, and then looking at the Port Adventures available on Castaway Cay. The cabanas are listed there by number. Since our family has Platinum Castaway Club status (over 10 Disney cruises), we were able to book cabana #18 for our cruise in July when our booking window opened up 120 days prior to sailing.
The family cabanas are located down as far as you can walk on the Castaway Family Beach. To get to them, you would need to get off the tram at the Pelican Plunge stop and then keep walking (and walking). You eventually run into the cabanas entrance. Special wristbands are required to actually go to the cabanas.
Most likely, the cabanas are all booked up. You can call Disney Cruise Line reservations at (800) 951-3532 to get added to a cabana waitlist for your cruise. You can also try checking at the
Guest Services desk once you are onboard the Disney Fantasy, as sometimes cruisers do need to cancel. You just might get some pixie dust.
Never fear, even if you aren't able to secure a cabana, there are plenty of umbrellas, loungers, and beach chairs. We have never had an issue with finding the perfect spot to plop down for the day. Castaway Cay is a true island paradise and you will have a wonderful day there! Be sure to head to the crab races, they are hilarious!
I hope you have a FANTAStic cruise aboard the gorgeous Disney Fantasy in just a few days!
Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
