Ahoy there, Lyndsay! Thanks so much for sailing on over to planDisney. Our crew is always ready and waiting to offer any help we can to make your next Disney adventure as magical as can be. A voyage on
Disney Cruise Line is sure to be a dream come true, and I'm happy to offer some details about navigating the ship and
Castaway Cay with an ECV.
One of the things I love most about Disney is how accommodating all Disney destinations are for Guests with mobility issues or other challenges. They make it possible for everyone to experience the magic, whether on land or at sea! On DCL, Guests traveling with an ECV or wheelchair should contact
Disney Cruise Line Special Services before setting sail so that any needed accommodations can be in place prior to boarding. The Cast Members I spoke with suggested that, in addition to contacting Special Services, you touch base with Guest Services once you're on board to ensure that you have the assistance you need.
Lyndsay, I did learn that the trams at Castaway Cay can accommodate some ECVs in the front row, depending on size. Once you disembark at the island, you can also drive your ECV to the first parking area where there are sand wheelchairs available. It is quite a hike to Serenity Bay, so I recommend letting the Cast Members know that you are headed in that direction and they can help get you there safely.
If your ECV will be parked for some length of time, it's a good idea to have something along to cover it. This will protect it in the event of an unexpected rain shower, or just ensure that your seat doesn't get too warm after a day in the tropical sunshine!
I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes, Lyndsay! Your Disney Cruise Line adventure will be here before you know it, and I hope you're getting excited. If our planDisney crew can assist with other questions before you set sail, please don't hesitate to reach out anytime.
SEA Ya Real Soon!
