7N EC Fantasy cruise. 1st ever cruise. 15 people total! Can you please explain how tipping works on board? I don't understand it at all, some say tip at table some say tip at end of cruise or both? Amounts for tips? What about room service? Thanks :)

    Welcome aboard, Jackelyn!

Disney Cruise Line is now having guests pre-pay their gratuities as it makes it a lot easier for you, so expect that those will be pre-charged to your account. No need to tip each night, as you servers rotate with you through the restaurants, so they are the same servers with your family throughout the cruise dinners. The traditional gratuities are as follows and are per person (including children) per night of the sailing:

    Stateroom Host: $4
    Server: $4
    Assistant Server: $3
    Head Server: $1

For your seven-night sailing, each guest can expect to pay $84 in tips for these Cast Members. Before your final night of the cruise, you'll receive envelopes with those Cast Member names and titles in your stateroom. Plus, you'll get a print-out with individual cards to tear off and put in the envelopes, showing your pre-paid tips for each of those people. Feel free to tuck extra cash in the envelope or add additional tips at Guest Services to your account, for those Cast Members if you feel they deserve more than the traditional tips. Then, on your last night, present those envelopes to each of those four Cast Members to thank them for making your cruise so magical (and believe me, they do make it magical for you)!

Cash tips you'll want to pay at the time of service are:

Room Service (We usually keep an envelope of singles on hand in our stateroom to tip the Cast Member who delivers our complimentary room service order, as there is no charging available for tips for this.)

Port Adventures (It's traditional to tip your guide for excellent service on your adventures in the port.)

Porters (If you use porters at the embarkation port to help take your luggage, a dollar per bag is traditional. The same goes for after your cruise if you have a porter take your bags on a cart.)

    Happy planning!
