Will be eating at 'Ohana at 6:15 and then going to Pirates and Pals at 8:30. What is the best transportation route? We will have our own car and can drive, but does the monorail go between Polynesian and Contemporary resorts? Thanks, love the panel!

Hi Julie!  Thank you so much for your kind words!  It is truly a pleasure to assist you with all your Walt Disney World Vacation planning questions!  You and I think alike.....my family enjoyed dinner at 'Ohana followed by the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage on our Walt Disney World Vacation in May!  It was truly a magical evening!  The resort monorail does travel between Disney's Polynesian Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort.  This is a tough question!  On the one hand, you will be on the same level as the monorail station when you finish dinner at 'Ohana so you could easily board the monorail and head for Disney's Contemporary Resort. The monorail will stop at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as well as Magic Kingdom before arriving at Disney's Contemporary Resort. With that being said, we have on a rare occasion or two encountered delays on the monorail. However, I would normally allow 15 minutes to travel between both resorts on the monorail. The drive to Disney's Contemporary Resort is only five minutes from Disney's Polynesian Resort so I honestly think both methods of travel will put you at Disney's Contemporary Resort in approximately the same time frame if you do not encounter any delays on the monorail and you consider the time it takes to find a parking space. By driving, you will find yourself on the ground floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort which is where the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage event begins; whereas, the monorail will drop you off on the main concourse requiring you to take the elevator or escalator down a few floors to the event location. Although the monorail is definitely the most fun way to travel, if you find yourself crunched for time, I would recommend driving directly to the Contemporary Resort.  I hope this information helps!  Please feel free to write me back with any additional questions. Best wishes for a Magical Trip, Julie!
