Ahoy, Amber! Thanks so much for sailing by planDisney with your question. I love that you’re planning ahead for your
Very Merrytime Cruise on the
Disney Dream in 2026...’tis definitely the season for planning!
There’s truly nothing better than combining a Disney Cruise with a Walt Disney World stay, and
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, no less (which just happens to be my favorite Disney Resort hotel). It’s such a wonderful way to beat those post cruise “disembarkation blues.”
I also love cruising out of
Fort Lauderdale because Port Everglades is smaller and feels a bit easier to navigate than Port Canaveral. But you’re absolutely right to think through transportation options! The drive from Port Everglades to Walt Disney World is about 3–3.5 hours, and Disney Cruise Line does not offer ground transportation for that route, so I'll give you a few options.
When my family did this exact trip in reverse before a cruise out of Port Everglades last summer, we opted to rent a car, which worked very well for us. Some rental companies have kiosks right at the port, while others provide shuttles to nearby off-site locations, especially around Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which is only a few miles away.
Another option you may want to consider is the Brightline train. You can take a short rideshare from Port Everglades to the Fort Lauderdale station, then ride the train to Orlando International Airport in less than three hours. From there, a rideshare or Mears Connect shuttle can take you to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. While I can’t link to non-Disney services, a quick online search will give you the details.
You might also find private car services that offer door-to-door transportation from Port Everglades straight to Walt Disney World using town cars, SUVs, or Sprinter vans. This is often the most convenient option, especially if you’re traveling with a group or a lot of luggage, but it's undoubtedly the priciest. Searching for “Port Everglades to Disney World private car service” should give you several companies to compare. You may need to call for a quote since the distance might be longer than what they typically offer.
I hope this helps you weigh your options, Amber! If you have any other questions as you plan your cruise or Walt Disney World stay, you know where to find us.
Sea ya real soon,
Eean
