    I would like to take it easy the 1st day with a lunch in Downtown Disney, ride the monorail and a character dinner at Chef Mickey's. Will I be able to do this without using a park ticket? any suggestions for 1st day activities welcome!

    Hi there Wendy!

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  We're glad you're here!  Congratulations on your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation! I think you have a planned a great first day!  I am happy to report that you will not need a park ticket for the activities you currently have planned since there is no charge to visit Downtown Disney. My family enjoys using our arrival day to get settled into our resort, explore the recreational activities offered at our resort followed by dinner at one of the amazing Walt Disney World restaurants!  Chef Mickey's is an excellent choice to kick off your magical trip! We also enjoy dining at one of the Magic Kingdom Area Resorts that are located on the Resort Monorail Loop and then riding the monorail after dinner. You may consider watching Wishes Nighttime Spectacular and the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort. The music from Wishes is actually piped into speakers near the beach area. Guests can also view the Electrical Water Pageant from Disney's Contemporary Resort. Another suggestion is to explore Downtown DIsney following your lunch there. My children could literally spend hours playing at the LEGO Imagination Center and shopping at the World of Disney Store.
