Hi Janet,
One of the reasons I love going to Disney World is that I get to stay in the bubble and not have to worry about transportation or anything else! Luckily for you, if you decide to leave the bubble there is easy access to ride-share options at any Disney World location.
The Old Town area is around 5-10 miles away from most Disney World locations so the price will be dependent on where you are taking a ride share from and whether you are traveling at peak times or not. Ride-share will be your only option because the Old Town is not a Disney owned location so they do not have complimentary transportation there. When traveling to a location similar outside of Disney property, I have had ride-share prices anywhere from $10-$50 depending on the time of day and exact distance.
If you are looking for some great shopping and a fun place to run around, I recommend heading over to
Disney Springs. I love spending at least one day shopping and eating at Disney Springs because they have so many of the best shops around. It is not all Disney-themed merchandise and is like hanging out at a beautiful outdoor destination entertainment district. I also recommend getting an
advanced dining reservation at one of their many decadent eating establishments. My favorite options are
Morimoto Asia and
The BOATHOUSE. Both locations have diverse menus that are sure to please anyone you are traveling with.
One of the best parts of heading over to Disney Springs for a day is that transportation is included with your Disney Resort stay. If you head out to the bus stop at your resort, they will take you directly to Disney Springs and pick you up when you are finished exploring.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
