How early should I call ahead and ask for a specific room type for my resort? For example, I want to call and ask for a room close to the lobby.

Welcome to planDisney, Sarah, and thanks for stopping by with this great question. Your Walt Disney World Resort visit is coming soon, so I'm sure you have your Mickey ears packed and ready! And I'm thrilled you've chosen to stay in the magic at a Disney Resort Hotel. Let's look at ways to get you a practically perfect room at your resort.

I spoke to a helpful Cast Member who said you have a few options to make specific room requests. The first is through online check-in. I usually do this on the My Disney Experience Mobile App by clicking Future Plans and choosing Start Check-In Now under the resort information. Depending on the room category you chose when you booked the room, you should see some Room Requests drop-down options. These options will be specific to your resort and room category.

For example, if you booked a Standard Room, you won't be as near the lobby area since those rooms are typically in the Preferred Category. If you have a Standard Room, your drop-down choices will be things like Ground Floor or Near the Pool. You can also prioritize an early check-in.

If you don't see a particular special request during online check-in, please call Disney Resort Hotel Reservations to make your request. Remember to have your reservation number and arrival date handy so they can look up your details. Although none of these requests are guaranteed, I've found they will do their best to accommodate you.

Sarah, you are well within the window to do online check-in or call the Reservations line. The Cast Member recommended making any room requests at least three days before your arrival, so I'd suggest you make them as soon as possible.

I know you'll have a fantastic time on your upcoming visit, Sarah! Be sure to check out the Activities Board at your resort. I always snap a photo, so I'll have the schedule on my phone. Most resorts offer amazing extras like movies under the stars and crafts.

Please stop by planDisney anytime, Sarah! I'd love to answer any questions you have. Enjoy your visit!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
