We are going to DW Sept-Oct. It sounds like the dining plan has made it almost impossible to walk in to a sit down restaurant without reservations. I heard they even put up signs saying they are booked full. Is this true?

    Hi Monica,

Our family is a big fan of Disney's Dining Plan. We love having the ability to budget out the majority of our food costs before our trip even begins. It is a treat to sit down to a delicious meal at a Disney restaurant knowing that we have already paid.

Although I have never seen any actual percentages or numbers, I am pretty sure that the increased popularity of the dining plan does add to the number of advance dining reservations being made and the availability of some of the restaurants. There is some great news though, advance reservations can be made ninety days in advance and the dates for September and October guests are not even open for booking yet. This means that nothing has been booked full yet as no one is able to book anything at this time. Given the popularity of the free dining promotion, must locations will become filled in advance, so it is strongly suggested that you make your reservations in advance.

I like to circle in red marker on my calendar, the first day that I can call and make my dining reservations. You can reach them at 407-WDW-DINE 407-939-3463 and the lines open at 7:00 am EST. Don't forget, if you will be staying at a Disney resort for your trip, you can actually make up to ten days of dining reservations on that first ninety day mark.

As for signs advising of the availability of tables, I have to say that i have never seen, nor heard, of anything like that. We have visited Disney a number of times during free dining and I do not recall ever seeing signs or posted information that restaraunts were booked. If you call in advance with your list, I think you will find that a number of your favorites can accommodate your dining needs.

    Bon Appetit!
