Hi Denise! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
It is so exciting to plan a Disney Vacation stay anywhere within Walt Disney World, but what an added element of fun to stay at The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. That is quite a long haul you are making from New York and I imagine being able to camp both to and from home makes the trip more of an adventure. While you may not have some of the deluxe perks of a Disney Vacation Club Villa, there is still plenty of magic to be found. There are fabulous
restaurants, swimming pools, whirlpool spas, archery experiences, and wagon rides. Check out the complete list of
recreational activities and find your adventure! There are several options for campsites as well; from tent or pop-up sites to premium meadow sites. You can learn more about the different
types of campsites available and decide which one best suits your needs.
I have converted my vacation points to reservation points in the past and been happy doing so after doing a cost comparison with the exact travel dates. I love the idea of doing a split stay though, as it will give you the best of both worlds; camping while enjoying the magic of the great outdoors and then the luxury of a Disney Vacation Club Resort. It is like having two vacations in one. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a magical outdoor adventure and a wonderful vacation!
As one of my favorite characters Russell from Up would say, "The wilderness must be explored!"
