Hi there, Mary--thanks for visiting planDisney with your question. It is the best day ever when I get the chance to talk about one of my very favorite topics--
Disney Vacation Club!
As you likely know, Disney Vacation Club is the uniquely Disney version of a traditional timeshare. Members purchase a certain number of
Vacation Points that correspond to a deeded real estate interest in a
Home Resort. Points can be used to book a stay of up to 7 consecutive nights at the Home Resort between 8 and 11 months from your vacation arrival date. This is called the
Home Resort Priority Period. We chose
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows as our Home Resort since we knew that we would always be thrilled to stay there any time we visited
Walt Disney World Resort!
Here's where it gets even more magical--you can also use your Vacation Points to book a stay at any of the other
Disney Vacation Club Resorts beginning 7 months from your arrival date. Want to try a different lodging option? Exchange points to vacation at
Disney Collection Hotels, located at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort in California, and the overseas Disney parks in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Paris. You can even use points to sail the seven seas on
Disney Cruise Line, or journey around the globe with
National Geographic Expeditions or
Adventures by Disney!
Mary, all of the DVC Resorts have a deed expiration date that is typically 50 years from the date the resort opened. Deeds for the Polynesian, for example, will expire on January 31, 2066, based on the opening date in April 2015.
If you're considering Membership for your family, there are not one but TWO new Disney Vacation Club properties scheduled to open at Walt Disney World in 2024 that you should definitely check out. A new tower at the Polynesian will be a welcome addition to the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, while
The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort will provide a secluded woodland retreat and easy access to the always-delightful
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue!
It's been a pixie-dusted pleasure to answer your question today, Mary. Thanks again for stopping by planDisney! If you have more questions about Disney Vacation Club that I can help with, please feel free to
reach out to me directly.
Welcome Home!
