Can I use my DVC points at Art of Animation or another resort that is not DVC? I am wanting to do a last minute trip with my youngest and can't get in my home resort.

    Welcome Home, Donald!

I’m so glad you stopped by to visit the Disney Vacation Club Panelists here on planDisney. This is a great question, and something many Disney Vacation Club Members don’t know a lot about. After all the challenges and canceled vacations of the past year, many of us have Vacation Points we want to use, and using them within the Disney Collection may be a good option for some Members.

The quick answer is yes, depending on availability, Disney Vacation Club Vacation Points may be used to book other types of vacations! You can view more details on the Disney Vacation Club Member Website. You may also like the pdf version of the points charts. If you would be interested in making this kind of exchange, you would need to call Member Services to inquire about availability and to make the booking.

There are a few things to be aware of if you decide to go this route. The non-villa bookings are part of the Disney Collection. To book these accommodations, your Disney Vacation Club Vacation Points are turned into what are called Reservation Points. This is the same type of transaction used to book Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney. Once you have turned your Vacation Points into Reservation Points, you cannot move them back. So if your plans change, or availability opens up, you cannot use those Reservation Points to book a Disney Vacation Club Villa. There is also a non-refundable transaction fee that applies to bookings in the Disney Collection.

Also, bookings within the Disney Collection are subject to the Rule of Four. This means that you cannot book and travel within the Disney Collection within the last four months of your Use Year. You can travel within the last four months, or you may book within those four months if you will be traveling in the next Use Year, but you cannot book and travel during that time frame. Hopefully, this doesn't apply to your situation and you can find the perfect booking for you and your youngest kiddo!

I hope this helps, Donald. Give Member Services a call and see what might be available!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
