Can I use my DVC points for an Alaskan Cruise? If so, how do I go about doing soho?

    Ahoy There, Paul!

Welcome to planDisney. Thank you so much for sailing by with your excellent question.  Paul, getting to use Disney Vacation Club Points to sail into the great wide somewhere is just one of the many ways to enjoy the flexibility of your Membership.  In fact, my parents just returned from a Disney Cruise Line cruise to Alaska that was booked using Disney Vacation Club Points and I just booked my own vacation using my Vacation Points on Disney Cruise Line. Paul, a whole new world awaits you when you take advantage of the options to use your Membership to Disney Destinations and beyond.

So, first, I would recommend visiting the Disney Vacation Club website and logging in.  On the menu bar, go to "Destinations" and click on Disney Vacation Club.  Then, you can click on the blue button that says "View All Destinations" you can click on "Alaska" to see the different itineraries available. That will just show you the sailings.

To see the Vacation Point cost, you want to go back to the page that says "View All Destinations" and beneath Alaska, you should see a blue link that says "View Points Chart." Click on that and here is what you will see the Vacation Points costs will be for the various cruises, sailing dates and staterooms.

When you are ready to book or if you have questions, call Member Services. They will help you transfer your Vacation Points to Reservation Points, check availability, and book your cruise using your Vacation Points.  If you have banked Vacation Points, current Use Year Vacation Points, or need to borrow ahead, they will help you maximize your Vacation Points. If you want to use a combination of Vacation Points and cash - which I just did myself - they can guide you through this process. To use Vacation Points and cash, one whole person must be paid for using Vacation Points and then the other Guests can be paid for in cash.  You just can't split one person's cost between cash and Vacation Points.

But not to worry.  Like your own personal Fairy Godparent, the Member Services team will wave their wands, and with a Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, they'll maximize your Vacation Points for you!

I hope this helps you, Paul. If you have any further questions, be sure to sail back here to see me. I'll just be here flippin' my fins waiting to help you.
