We're DVC members and will be taking our first Disney Cruise in February! We will be traveling on the Disney Magic, 7-Night Western Caribbean. We are planning to spend time at the beach when in port. Do we need to take a taxi to get there? What's the cost?

    Hi Stefanie,

Welcome Home! I loved having the flexibility to use my points on the seas versus on land! It is such a wonderful vacation!

If I have the correct cruise itinerary, you will be heading to Key West, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. When I went to Key West on the cruise, I toured the Little White House (very interesting), Ernest Hemingway's house (if allergic to cats skip) and the town itself including the southernmost tip of the United States. It was all in walking distance of the ship. However, many guests rented electric carts or scooters to get around.

For beaches in Key West, Grand Cayman or Cozumel, I would talk to the cast members on the cruise to see if you need a car to get to the beach. While each location has options, depending on the option you choose there will be different pricing from a few dollars to $20-30. It might be cheaper to rent a scooter or car for the day. I have included the port adventures for each city for you to look at to narrow down your options.

For Castaway Cay, you simply walk off the boat right to the beach! And save luggage space, as you can take the towels from the ship to the beach - please return them:)

    Wishing you a magical cruise!
