Hi, We are DVC members and we're our sons to Disney World to celebrate college graduation. One of my son loves to cook and both love to eat. I was wondering where I can get cooking lessons for 5 people or a similar extra magic experience.

Hi Maria, welcome home and welcome back to planDisney! A special congratulations to your son for his upcoming graduation! No better way to celebrate all that hard work than a trip to Walt Disney World. My wife (then girlfriend at the time) took me for a trip to Walt Disney World, my first time staying on property, after finishing graduate school. That trip renewed my love for all things Disney! Now, it sounds like your sons would like Chef Remy to in their ears to coach them to prepare a world class feast, so let’s get you an answer!

Maria, I see two such offerings for cooking lessons at Walt Disney World. The first is the Cake Decorating Experience at Amorette’s Patisserie. This small-group lessons gives you the opportunity to decorate a dome cake while providing some insider stories and tips for cake decorating! Reservations are limited to two people, but based on the website, you can make multiple reservations if your party is more than two.

Another great experience at Disney Springs is the Chef Demonstration Menu offered at Jaleo Mondays through Thursdays. In addition to dinner, you’ll get a 1-hour cooking demonstration with one of Jaleo’s chefs to learn how to make three signature tapas courses along with two of their beverages. Similar to Amorette’s, you’ll have to call the restaurant to inquire about reservations for this experience.

If all that fails, don’t forget that 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom villas also come equipped with full kitchens, so the possibilities are endless! Our family often stays in 1 bedroom villas and we prepare some meals during our stay. The Walt Disney World website provides some great The Princess and the Frog-inspired recipes for you to try on your own! Or, you can also recreate some of the best snacks and meals the Disney Parks has to offer through the Official Disney Parks Cookbook!

Maria, all this talk about food is sure making me hungry! Don’t forget to check out the outdoor kitchens at EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival during your visit! As Chef Gusteau always says, “Anyone can cook!”, so why not let the chefs handle it during your vacation. Here's the foodie guide so you can plan out your course of action! If you have any further questions on making the most of your DVC membership, please feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
