We are DVC members and have registered for the Princess Half marathon, but are having difficulty booking enough nights online for the event. Is there blocked off rooms for registered runners?

    Welcome Home, Tania!

Lace-up those running shoes, because the runDisney Princess Half Marathon will sneak up on us pretty quickly! I just began my training program, and this will be my third time running the event. There is just something about dressing like a Disney Princess and running through Cinderella Castle that keeps me motivated to train through the snowy winters here in Indiana.

Currently, runDisney does not hold room blocks for race weekends. With the weekend before the race being President’s Weekend, and with the popularity of the Princess Half Marathon events, Disney Vacation Club Villas booked very quickly. In particular, that Thursday night before the 5K is very tight! (Fingers crossed for my Waitlist!) With us now only being 5 months before the race, finding availability for the entire week in a Disney Vacation Club Villa may be challenging, but not to worry, I have a few ideas for you! First, if you want to use your Vacation Points, you could book the available days, and put in a Waitlist request for what isn’t. You never know when someone else will cancel and your Waitlist request will come through! Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa has some availability that week and may be your best bet for Waitlist success. Did you know that Members can use their Vacation Points to book standard resort rooms? You'll need to call Member Services to inquire about availability and eligibility, but this might be another option for you.

If you’d prefer to stay in Disney’s Deluxe Villa Accommodations, you can call Member Services to inquire about the availability of a cash villa. Availability can be limited, but Members receive a discount through Member Services on these rooms, so it’s always worth it to call and ask!

The other option is to book a standard room directly through Disney. If you decide to put in a Waitlist request for a DVC stay, I recommend you book a room-only stay as a backup, so you know you have something. You can cancel a room-only reservation for a full refund at least 5 days before check-in. With this plan, if your Disney Vacation Club Waitlist request came through, you could cancel the room-only reservation! While I don’t know the size of your party, or exact dates, I was able to find plenty of availability at all price points through the Walt Disney World Website from February 19, through March 1, 2022. Hopefully one of these resorts would work for you!

Again, I do recommend you book something, even if it isn’t ideal, and continue to check back to see if things change. And it’s always worthwhile to put in a Waitlist request with Disney Vacation Club! Please let me know if you have any additional questions as you plan your trip, Tania. I always enjoy helping my fellow Disney Vacation Club Members.

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
