As DVC members is it really worth joining? Ive been contemplating it for awhile now. Im 46, i love going to Disney, would love to see other places they offer, but i would be 57-60 before i start seeing the financial benefits from it.

Hi Isaac, thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with such a thoughtful question.

My husband and I joined Disney Vacation Club eight years ago and haven’t looked back! We visited Walt Disney World the week of Christmas and stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge as a surprise for our two oldest. We had an incredible time and decided to take a Disney Vacation Club tour. When we saw the difference in price for our vacation as points vs. cash, we were shocked! If we had bought points with the money we spent on our holiday vacation, we could have vacationed with Disney at least one more time in the calendar year!

So, if you ask the question of us, it is a resounding Yes! But, I understand that being a Disney Vacation Club Member is an investment, and it sounds like you have done a great job of pricing that out. We like to compare and contrast our savings over the years with the initial investment we made. Since joining, we make a week-long Christmas trip every other year. We also stay every year over Labor Day, and I also have at least one medical conference each year, and we turn it into a family vacation at Walt Disney World or one of the other Disney Vacation Club properties! So, as a rule, we spend at least four full weeks a year using our points. One year alone makes up our initial investment, and we are on year eight!

Isaac, I don’t know how many times a year you vacation, but the thing we love is that you are not locked into the same place, at the same time each year. You mentioned you are a golfer; Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is one of our absolute favorites, and I’m sure you know, Hilton Head is home to some fantastic greens! I browsed through our Concierge Collection and noticed Desert Oasis by Welk Resorts Palm Springs. My grandparents live in Palm Springs and have played that course, and it is oustanding. As you can see, as a Member, you have so many options to indulge in!

Best of luck with your decision. Feel free to contact Member Services at (800) 500-3990 with any specific questions you have regarding Membership.
