DVC member for a year.Want to book for Oct '15.Finding a lot of DVC w/ no availability.Wondering how often the website updates availability due to cancellations:throughout the day or only certain times of day?Haven't had luck with waitlist for prior trips.

    Hi Lisa!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We too will be traveling to Walt Disney World in October, as it seems do many Members. With Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, cooler temperatures during the day, and lower points cost for Disney Vacation Club accommodations, many Members have decided that October is an ideal time to plan their vacations.

How many Hidden Mickeys are there at Walt Disney World? Will Uncle Orville ever find any privacy on the Carousel of Progress? Like these questions, how the inventory updates for Disney Vacation Club is one of Disney’s big mysteries.

I do have a few recommendations. First, I would go ahead and book something that is available for your dates. Rooms are often available for booking at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. I would then go ahead and waitlist two additional resorts. You may want to pick your most desired choice, and then a second choice that is more likely to come though. I will tell you that in my experience, during October resorts within walking distance to Epcot are usually booked well in advance by Members who own at those resorts. And as it sounds like you plan to do, check back frequently.

If you are at all willing to do a split stay, whereby you split your vacation into stays at two different resorts, you may be able to add one day of availability at a time to a reservation. If the full set of days did not become available over time however, you would then be required to move during your vacation. We have done this before, and we did enjoy getting to experience the amenities at two different resorts during our vacation.

I hope this helps as you plan your upcoming Disney Vacation Club Vacation. I’m sending you pixie dust for reservation success!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
