Hi, I am a DVC member. Due to the difficulty of finding reservations during Christmas time I am considering coming down with the family on New Year’s Day for 4 nights. Will Christmas decorations still be up, and some events still be taking place?

    Hiya Vincent!

Welcome BACK to planDisney! It is lovely to see you here asking another vacation question. There is nothing more festive than a visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth during The Most Wonderful Time of the Year! With holiday décor, special holiday events, and yummy holiday treats, you are sure to experience a truly magical vacation. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble finding Disney Vacation Club accommodations for your travel dates. I have a few options to help you make the most out of your Disney Vacation Club Membership.

The first option would be to create a Waitlist Request (or two) for the desired Disney Vacation Club Resort during your desired dates. To create a Waitlist Request, search online for the resort you want and specify your desired dates, room type, and the number of people in your party. If the resort you desire does not have accommodations available, you can select “Waitlist This Entire Stay.” Waitlist Requests are active until 31 days or seven days prior to your arrival date based on your request. If your Waitlist resort becomes available, your Waitlist Request will be confirmed automatically, and you will receive an email confirmation. You can have up to two active Waitlist Requests per membership, per Use Year.

Another option, and one I believe you are already considering based upon the last question you asked, would be to convert your Vacation Points to Reservation Points to book accommodations at a Disney Resort hotel. Please note that once Vacation Points are converted to Reservation Points, they cannot be converted back to Vacation Points and cannot be used to book Disney Vacation Club Resort accommodations.

Disney Very Merriest After Hours, a special ticketed event, will take place on select nights from November 8 through December 21, 2021, but you can enjoy holiday celebrations throughout the holiday season. Holiday celebrations will begin November 12, 2021, with the decorations typically staying up until around the first week or two of January. So, while you may not get to experience all the holiday entertainment and events arriving on New Year’s Day, you will likely see plenty of the holiday décor!

Have a magical visit to Walt Disney World Resort! Please remember, you’ve got a friend in us here at planDisney, so stop back by any time.
