Welcome Home, Perry!
I too have been waiting for
runDisney to announce the return of in-person races and was thrilled last week to hear they would be coming back! I did have some very sad Jedi however, that the Star Wars Half Marathon would not be returning, but we are looking to the
Princess Half Marathon Weekend as an alternative. There is something about the idea of running through Cinderella Castle that motivates me to get out and train, even on hot days or rainy mornings, and I just created a new music playlist for my training schedule!
As things reopen and begin to return to what life was like before the pandemic, not everything is coming back in exactly the same way. One of the things that has changed is that
Annual Passholders and
Disney Vacation Club Members will not be offered early registration for
runDisney events this year. I was also disappointed in this change. As Members for more than a decade, we took advantage of this perk, and it will certainly be more challenging to secure bibs for next year.
As an alternative, runners had the opportunity last week to join
Club runDisney which does offer early registration to Club members at certain levels. While it wasn’t a good option for me, it must have been popular with others as Club
runDisney sold out in just a matter of days.
My best advice Perry, is to be ready to register the moment your preferred race opens. If you'll be using your Disney Vacation Club Membership for your stay over race weekend, I would book your stay now and not wait, as many resorts are filling fast. Good luck in securing that bib, and happy training as you prepare for your race!
Wishing you
Membership Magic!- Kate
