Welcome to planDisney, Matthew, and Welcome Home!
While none of us ever wants to cancel a vacation, especially a
Disney Vacation Club adventure, things sometimes come up in life that leave us with no other choice. We have been in the same position where we had to make the decision to cancel a
Walt Disney World Resort trip we had looked forward to for months. Fortunately, the flexibility of being DVC Members took a little sting out of the process. Let's take a look at Holding Points.
I like to think of Holding Points as Vacation Points that Olaf is giving them a nice, warm hug until you can use them again. When a DVC reservation is canceled between 30 days and one day before check-in, those Points are placed into a
Holding Account. Once in the account, those Points will expire at the end of your Use Year and cannot be banked or borrowed. So while some people are worth melting for, make sure you take note of when your Points expire so they don't melt away. The other key feature of Holding Points is when they can be used to book a new reservation. So we all know how much Olaf loves summer, right? Well, summer is about 60 days long. Your Holding Points can only be used to book new DVC reservations 60 days or less from the date of check-in. So while I hope you are able to complete your vacation, I also hope this helped make Holding Points as clear as frozen ice.
