Hi Jessica, and welcome you to planDisney! I’m so happy you stopped by with this question. Your little one’s very first visit to Walt Disney World is going to be filled with so many special memories! We took our daughter for the first time when she was just four months old and we visited in July, so I can understand why you have questions about how to make this trip a success. I have absolutely no regrets about taking her at that age. There is something incredibly magical about experiencing Walt Disney World with a baby for the first time!
The good news is that there are many ways to stay cool, take breaks, and have a wonderful visit with your little one! The first thing we want to think about in August is the heat. The Florida sunshine is not to be taken lightly in the summer! I highly recommend adding an extra sunshade for your stroller before your trip, but the real MVP for me was a clip-on stroller fan (honestly, I’d bring two). That was the key to keeping my baby cool and comfortable on those hot afternoons in the parks.
One of the great things about Walt Disney World is there are so many places to cool off throughout the day. When you need a break from the heat, take a stroll through the gift shops, relax indoors with a cold drink or snack at a quick-service dining location, or enjoy one of the many indoor air-conditioned attractions.
Now let me share what was an absolute lifesaver for me and one of my favorite things about visiting Walt Disney World with a little Mouseketeer…
Baby Care Centers! There is one in each of the four theme parks, and they are truly designed to make taking care of your baby much so much easier.
At the Baby Care Centers, you’ll find changing tables and places to nurse or feed your baby, but they also sell essentials like formula, diapers, wipes, diaper cream, baby food, and more, in case you need something during the day. What I loved most though was having a calm, quiet place to step away from the crowds for a little while. It was the perfect place to take a break, cool down, rock my daughter to sleep, feed her, or just take a breather in a peaceful setting. Those Baby Care Centers always felt like a true hidden gem right in the middle of the parks!
When it comes to attractions, I think you’ll be happy to know that Walt Disney World is so family-friendly that you’ll be able to take your baby on many rides with you! For the ones that have height requirements, the
Rider Switch system will allow adults to take turns riding without having to wait in line twice.
Jessica, I hope this helps you prepare for a magical holiday with your precious new baby! If you have any more questions, please
come back and see me. I love helping you plan a visit that is practically perfect in every way!
With faith, trust, & pixie dust,
Casey
