Bright suns, Gabriel! Before you know it, you’ll be dodging Stormtroopers and drinking
blue milk in
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
Things are always changing on Batuu, but I have some great news about
Droid Depot. Starting on March 17, 2025, travelers visiting the workshop will no longer need a reservation to make an astromech. Walk-ups are always welcome during regular park hours, so drop by whenever you’re ready to build your custom droid!
The workshop is such a fun experience, so take in all the galactic vibes and don’t rush choosing your droid parts from the conveyor belt. Once you move to the assembly stage, things finish up pretty quickly!
Now, with a shiny new droid by your side, it’s time for a little adventure! If you walk around Black Spire Outpost, you’ll find that your new buddy will interact with other droids and different areas throughout the land. Near Droid Depot, you’ll sometimes find blue mats where you can let your droid roll around and meet fellow astromechs.
And when you’re done showing your buddy around, Droid Depot usually has complimentary “droidsitting” services for astromechs made that day. Just ask at the desk where you checked in.
After a day of exploring Black Spire Outpost, there’s no better place to rest and refuel than at the local watering hole,
Oga’s Cantina. And be sure to wave to DJ R3X on your way in! While you can
join the Walk-Up List, if it’s available, I’d recommend making a reservation in advance since it’s popular with the smugglers and bounty hunters.
There's plenty of delicious food and drinks to be had, but my go-to is the Garlic-Cheese Five Blossom Bread! It’s served warm with a spicy Chile de Arbol cheese sauce and perfectly compliments the drinks. And if you’re looking for a fun and practical souvenir, be sure to check out the exclusive mugs at Oga’s. I have the one that comes with The Grinning Loth-cat drink and it always reminds me of my galactic adventures when I’m back home.
One last tip—Before you travel to Black Spire Outpost, be sure to download the
Play Disney Parks app. When you enter Galaxy's Edge, it’ll transform into the
Star Wars: Datapad, unlocking all sorts of tools to explore the land. By translating Aurebesh signs, scanning objects to uncover cargo, and decrypting communications, you can complete missions and earn digital rewards in the app! It’s a great way to explore all of the nooks and crannies across the planet.
I hope this helps you plan an out-of-this-world day on Batuu. Safe travels, Gabriel, and may the force be with you!
