Hi! We will be driving to WDW and I was wondering what the advantages are to driving ourselves to the parks vs. taking the bus. Thanks!

    Hi Amber,

Our family really enjoys the convenience of the Disney transportaion system when we are at WDW. We love not worrying about traffic, directions to where we are headed and having to remember where we parked the car. After a long day walking around the parks, we love that the Disney bus is waiting for us by the park entrance and drops us off at our hotel entrance. This means no walking around parking lots dragging exhausted children. My husband and I also enjoy an occasional glass of wine with dinner and no car means not having to worry about our safety if we have had a cocktail.

The main advantage that we have found with using our car is time. When using Disney's system you do have to allow for travel times which at times can be frustrating.  If you are in a hurry or on a tight schedule, it is usually quicker to use your car than wait for a bus, boat or monorail. The other advantage to using your car is if you would like to go off property for dinner or shopping, there is no Disney transportation for that.

My suggestion is to park the car and use the Disney transportation system. Use your car as a back up for off property excursions or if you are running late but otherwise let someone else do the driving and you relax--after all you are on vacation.
