Can I drive my mobility scooter throughout Fort Wilderness to get to and from places without using the bus systems?

Welcome back to planDisney, Kaitlyn! I'm so happy to know that in less than a month you will be enjoying a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! Thanks for sending us your question.

I'm my experience, there are some places you can walk to and drive your mobility scooter to, but the Fort Wilderness property is too big to navigate with a scooter alone. After all, the whole property spans about 750 acres.

For example, it would be a distance, but traveling from the Meadow Trading Post to the Fort Wilderness dock is doable. It would be maybe a 10-minute ride. But traveling from the main entrance to the Fort Wilderness dock may take you more than 30 minutes on your scooter.

You can use the bus system to help get you to some areas and if you like, you can rent a golf cart as well to help you get around the Fort. It really is the most fun way to get around! You can make a reservation for a golf cart before you arrive, or you can check for availability after you arrive.

Kaitlyn, I hope this information is helpful to you as you put those finishing touches on your upcoming trip. Please feel free to come back to see us if you have any more questions. It's always our pleasure to help you with the details!
