Hi Doug.Thnx so much for your help with my itenerary. Few more questions. On the day we go to AK what is the best counter service place and is the Luau at Polynesian a must do? DD12 and DD6. Or maybe Chef Mickeys? Thanks again. You are a life saver!!

    Amanda,

On a trip to the Animal Kingdom last year I had a really great lunch at the Yak and Yeti counter, so that is pretty good. It features Asian foods, like sweet and sour pork and kung pao beef. But the hands-down best counter service in the Animal Kingdom is the Flame Tree BBQ on Discovery Island. The food is exceptional, and the seating areas are like private little jungle lanais. I think it is better than most table service restaurants throughout Walt Disney World.

I think that the Spirit of Aloha is a must do, but not all agree. The food is fine, but not exceptional. When you spend that much money on dinner, you usually expect something notable. But for my family it is a great first night dinner that has a warm glow to it, enjoyable entertainment, and a great festive atmosphere. I think it is a memorable event. With a 12 and 6 year old, it is likely to be a better time on average for the whole family than Chef Mickey's, which is certainly more attuned to the 6 year old.

    Thanks for the kind words!

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
