Michael,
Thanks for asking your question to plan Disney!
Since the time of that writing, the path that connected
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to the Fort Wilderness area has been permanently closed. I am certainly disappointed, as it was a wonderful stroll to take, but I don’t mind sailing over on the boat instead!
While I have no inside information, it seems apparent that the walkway will not re-open. There have been plans underway for a possible resort along that route, so it is possible that this is the reason why.
But how do you get to enjoy that outdoorsy vibe, even when you cannot make that walk? I have a few favorites to recommend if you are not already aware of them.
Tri-Circle-D Ranch: The all-new Tri-Circle-D Ranch is a beautiful home for some of our favorite four-legged friends. My family and I visited there this Spring break before having dinner at the
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and we were truly impressed. If you have a youngster in tow, a
pony ride might not be a bad idea!
RANCH BONUS TIP
The ranch is open to visitors from 10 am to 5 pm.
Geyser Point Bar & Grill: I love to grab a drink and some sharable appetizers with my planDisney panel friends at this wonderful outdoor lounge. It is very family-friendly, and it has some great waterside views.
GEYSER BONUS TIPNear Geyser Point, in the evening, they have a fire for grilling s’mores. They even sell the necessary goodies to complete your sweet treat!
So, I am sorry that the answer is no, the path is no longer available, but there are so many other fun activities and venues in the area that you should still have a great time!
Have a Magical Vacation!
Doug
