Hi, Doug. We visited WDW on the deluxe dining plan last time, but this time we are going with the basic. Since this plan does not include appetizers, could we exchange dessert for appetizers. My DD7 has diabetes, and appetizers work better for her. Thanks.

    Rebecca,

The official answer is no. Certainly your reasoning makes sense, but they have created the plan based on prices of different items, so they don't allow that kind of substitution.

But here is a simple, if not always 100% successful, tip. When you sit down to eat, ask.

Many of the restaurants will (unofficially) allow this, with select appetizers. If they say no, please don't get mad at them, their rules are in place for a reason. But still ask, as you may be pleased with some of the locations that can accommodate your request.

Sorry it is not the answer you may have wanted, but better to know ahead of time.

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
